Designing Profits was formed in 2004 at the time of the inaugural Business of Design Conference. It subsequently created the Best Practices Network (BPN), the Winter Conference, and The Business School.

David Shepherd is former member of the faculty of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin where he also earned his MBA degree. He is author of Your Business or Your Life: 8 Steps For Getting All You Want Out of Both, and The Path: A Course in Prosperity for Creative Entrepreneurs.
